How to Remove Whitespace From a String in Node.js

by using Regular Expression

by using Split() & Join()

regular expression parses the string and removes any white spaces if it finds. and We use the replace() function on our string to remove each space the regular expression finds.

const str = " /public/myfile/ my Document Name.txt"
str.replace(/\s/g, "")
// returns "/public/myfile/myDocumentName.txt"

split() and join()

const str = " /public/myfile/ my Document Name.txt"
str.split(" ").join("")
// returns "/public/myfile/myDocumentName.txt"

The split() method splits a string into an array of strings by separating the original string into substrings. It uses a specified separator to determine where to make each split.

the join() method takes each string in the array created by split() and returns a new string with the commas in the array removed.

trim()

The trim() method removes whitespace from both ends of a string and returns a new string, without modifying the original string.

const str = ' Hello Sana! ';
console.log(str);
// output: " Hello Sana! ";
console.log(str.trim());
// output: "Hello Sana!";
